1.Getting Started

1Install YouTube Focus Coach from the Chrome Web Store.
2Pin the extension: click the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin YouTube Focus Coach.
3Open the popup and add your focus goals or topics (for example: “web development”, “exam prep”).
4Turn on the distraction settings you want — hide Shorts, comments, sidebar recommendations or autoplay.
5Open youtube.com and refresh the page once so the settings apply.

Issue	What to try
Nothing changes on YouTube	Reload the YouTube tab after saving settings, and make sure the extension toggle is ON in the popup.
Extension icon is missing	Click the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin the extension.
Settings are not saving	Check that Chrome is not in Incognito without permission for this extension, then reopen the popup.
Settings differ across devices	Sync only works when Chrome Sync is enabled and you are signed into the same Chrome profile.
Focus timer not firing	Keep at least one YouTube tab open; timers pause when Chrome is fully closed.
Layout looks broken after a YouTube update	Update the extension to the latest version, then email us so we can push a fix.
